Liga - Barcelona star urges Wilshere signing

Barcelona right-back Daniel Alves wants his club to raid struggling Arsenal again – for England midfielder Jack Wilshere.

“He is a great player who we have met playing against Arsenal and without doubt he can reach the height of the players we have here at Barcelona like Xavi and Iniesta,” Brazil international Alves said of Wilshere, who recently returned from over a year out injured.

"He has a lot of quality and a great personality. If I was given the chance to choose, he is a player that I would sign for Barcelona."

Arsenal recently lost stars such as Cesc Fabregas and Alexandre Song to Barca, and in the past let Thierry Henry, Alex Hleb, Emmanuel Petit and Marc Overmars join the Catalan club.

Having sold the likes of Robin van Persie to Manchester United and Samir Nasri to Manchester City, the Gunners are in danger of finishing outside the top four of the Premier League, having been dumped out of both domestic cups by lower-league opposition.

Losing Wilshere would be another major blow, but he is Arsenal through-and-through and is expected to stay at the Emirates, provided the club’s ambitions match his own.

That is a big ‘if’, however, with the Gunners’ transfer policy alienating even the most loyal supporters.
