Deportivo La Coruna defeated Mallorca 3-2 to give their hopes of survival a big boost in La Liga.

Sunday's match pitted 19th against 20th in La Liga and Depor moved to within a point of Mallorca and 18th-placed Celta with the victory. Real Zaragoza are a further three points ahead.

Mallorca took the lead through Victor Casadesus after 19 minutes but Depor responded with strikes from Silvio (27), Carlos Marchena (48) and Riki (60).

The hosts struck late through Emilio Nsue but Depor clung on for a vital win.


Deportivo La Coruna had 48.4% of possession. Deportivo had five shots, including nine on goal.

Diogo Salomao made his mark on the match for Deportivo after coming on for Bruno Gama in the 74th minute, as he took two shots. Riki had three shots for Deportivo, more than any of his team-mates.

Mallorca were caught offside on numerous occasions in this game. The linesman raised the flag against the Barralets seven times during the match.

Emilio Nsue made a big difference on the match for Mallorca after coming on for Víctor in the 57th minute, as he scored one goal and took two shots.

The five attempts by Alejandro Alfaro were the most of any Mallorca player. Tomas Pina's 13 passes to Antonio Luna were the most between any Mallorca team-mates during the match.
