“I am very happy at Atletico at this time. I am proud to be here and I still have three years to go on my contract,” said Falcao, whose 13 goals have helped Atletico to second spot in the Spanish table, only five points behind leaders Barcelona.

“There is some talk about my departure at the end of the season, but right now I am perfectly fine in Madrid. I am one with this club and my only concern is to help get it to the top.

“Our journey so far has been formidable, we have played some very attractive football and the team wants to have a good season.

“We are at a good moment, but we must not get carried away. It is still too early to talk of the title, but I am convinced that we will be up there. The priority remains to ‘catch’ a place in the Champions League, we’ll see about the rest.”

David Luiz, having recently matched up against the striker in an international match, thinks Falcao would be an excellent addition to the Chelsea squad.

"He would fit perfectly in to the squad," Luiz told Brazilian media after the country's draw against Colombia in the United States on Wednesday night.

"We would all be happy (if he signed) because Falcao would undoubtedly be a great player for our team."

Luiz said of Falcao, according to website Terra: "He is very difficult to stop. He is an excellent striker."

The Blues have also been linked with a bid for Juventus' Stephan Lichtsteiner, but his agent has played down talk of the Swiss right-back moving to Stamford Bridge.

"I don't know where these rumours come from," his agent and father Marko Lichtsteiner told Calciomercato. "Stephan is happy at Juventus: they are first in the league and we hope they get through the (group) round in the Champions League.

"He wants to stay, he has no intention of leaving Turin and there is no reason to do it. He has no problems with (the coach). They are two people who have a strong characters and always want to win. If the club has other ideas for Stephan, I don't know."

Meanwhile the agent of Fluminense defender Wallace has claimed Chelsea are on the verge of signing the 18-year-old Brazilian. His representative Frederico Moraes told Italian radio station Centro Suono Sport: "There are very advanced negotiations with Chelsea and the signature is almost certain.

"If Wallace goes to Chelsea, he will be playing there. I had contact with Roma and many other Italian clubs, but that was a long time ago. I rule out the possibility of a loan (from Chelsea to Roma). If he joins Chelsea he will play for the Blues."
