Guardiola has been on sabbatical after stepping down as Barca boss at the end of the 2011-12 season having won 14 trophies in just four years at Camp Nou.

He has been linked with virtually every big club in world football in recent months, with Manchester City and Chelsea among his reported suitors in England.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of FIFA's Ballon d'Or ceremony, where he is on the shortlist for the coach of the year award, Guardiola revealed he will take a job in the summer.

"I will return (next season) because I am young, but I have been living the kind of life that I wanted and one that my family also deserved," Guardiola, who has relocated to New York with his wife and children, said on Monday.

"I don't look back," he added. "You take decisions because they have to be taken, I don't look at the reasons. The rest is not important."

When questioned about particular destinations, Guardiola proved reluctant to discuss his prospects:

"It would show a lack of respect on my part to talk about any team that has a coach," he said, adding that he was not interested in the Brazil job.

"It's a honour that a country with so many World Cups thinks I can lead them but I have always thought that a national team should be managed by someone from that country."
