Joaquín scored thanks to a strong individual effort and put a right-footed shot into the lower left of the net.

Joaquín was on the pitch for 90 minutes against Real Valladolid. The midfielder scored in the 87th minute, took four shots and completed 46 passes. Joaquín's favorite passing target was Jesús Gámez, with whom he linked up seven times.

Other goals in the match came on a right-footed shot by Manucho in the ninth minute and a right-footed shot by Isco in the 37th minute.

Málaga controlled possession for 67.2% of the match thanks to strong open field play. Málaga won 68 duels and 21 headers, which led to seven shots, including six on target. Roque Santa Cruz made his mark on the match after coming on for Portillo in the 60th minute, as he took three shots. Willy Caballero stopped five shots. Gámez's 13 passes to Joaquín were the most of any Málaga teammates during the match.

Real Valladolid's hopes for victory were reduced when Manucho was shown a red card in the 81st minute. The second yellow card was the result of a foul, and left Real Valladolid to contest the rest of the match with 10 men. Real Valladolid attempted three shots, including six on target.

Málaga controlled the pace of play in the first half with a 72.4% possession rate, and despite not taking the lead they used the momentum generated over the first 45 minutes to propel itself to victory. Both sides had six shots in the first half, and Málaga put one attempt on goal compared with three for Real Valladolid.

Málaga now sit in third in the table with a record of five wins, one loss and two draws. Real Valladolid are in ninth place with a record of three wins, four losses and one draw.
