Barca recorded a 2-2 draw away to Lechia Gdansk on Tuesday evening thanks to goals from Sergi Roberto and Messi, before the Brazilian made a brief appearance from the bench.

“I have fulfilled a dream. I think I need a little more time to get into shape,” commented Neymar before reflecting on life alongside Messi.

“Messi is a great person. He is an idol for me and I am very happy to be here and that I get the chance to play with him.

“Speaking with Messi is very easy. He’s a great player, I’m happy to be here. I am just thinking of helping.”

Neymar could be in line for a first start for the Blaugrana against his former side Santos.

“It will be a bit strange, different, but now I defend Barca’s colours and I’ll give it my all.”

That game will be Gerardo Martino’s first in charge, as yesterday’s friendly was overseen by assistants Jordi Roura and Rubi.

“I had the chance to speak with him, he told me that he has confidence in me.”
