Argentinian defender Martin Demichelis celebrates scoring a goal

Atletico Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Malaga’s out-of-contract centre-back Martin Demichelis this summer.

The Argentine will be a free agent at the end of June and has already attracted attention from former club River Plate.

Atleti are apparently also monitoring the 32-year-old former Bayern Munich man and are said to be particularly attracted by his experience at Champions League level.

Diego Simeone has reportedly determined that the club sign another centre-back to the squad, whilst it is also believed that one of Joao Miranda and Diego Godin may be sold, if a reasonable offer arrives.

Los Colchoneros have also been linked in recent weeks with a move for Real Madrid’s Raul Albiol.

Malaga have reportedly identified former Getafe and Real Madrid Coach Bernd Schuster as their first choice replacement for Manuel Pellegrini.

On from seeing talks with Newell’s Old Boy’s Gerardo Martino break down, the Costa del Sol outfit have reportedly turned to the 53-year-old German, who has been out of work since leaving Besiktas in 2011.

It is understood that Malaga have considered a number of options to replace Pellegrini and have reached a consensus that Schuster fits the bill.

Talks are reportedly already at an advanced stage and an agreement could be reached in the next few hours.

Meanwhile, the club are also in the market for a new sporting director, having taken the surprising decision to release Mario Husillos from his contract.

Husillos was seen as in talks to extend his deal beyond its June 30 expiry, having apparently impressed club officials with his work since arriving last summer at the recommendation of Pellegrini.

Malaga are close to bringing in their first new face of the summer as a deal for young defender Flavio Ferreira nears completion.

On from resigning Pedro Morales to a new contract and making Vitorino Antunes’ loan permanent, the club are expected to confirm Ferreira as their first new arrival of this summer’s transfer window.

The 21-year-old Portuguese centre-back, who can also play in defensive midfield, is reportedly in Malaga today and has already undergone and passed a medical ahead of the €500,000 switch from Academica.

Ferreira will reportedly put pen to paper on a four-year contract. Winger Joaquin, meanwhile, is set to leave the club after they agreed terms with Fiorentina over his transfer.

Udinese’s Diego Fabbrini is being tipped to join Spanish side Granada or Championship side Watford this summer.

Although Bologna have made an enquiry for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, Udinese may opt to send him out on loan to one of their satellite clubs instead.

Udinese chief Gino Pozzo owns Granada and Watford.

Fabbrini is a talented youngster who has struggled for action since joining the Bianconeri from Empoli in 2011.

He joined Palermo on loan in January, but was used just eight times by the Sicilian club who were eventually relegated.

Fabbrini’s agent will meet with Udine officials in the next week where he will ask that his client be allowed to join a team who could offer him regular first team football.

Fabbrini would have Alessandro Diamanti as competition were he to join Bologna this summer and the Italian international remains at the Dall’Ara.
