Marco Verratti ignored questions on whether he’ll join Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
PSG coach Ancelotti has made it clear he wants to replace Jose Mourinho in Madrid, but so far the French club is refusing to release him.
It’s reported that if the move does go through, Ancelotti will want to bring Italian midfield starlet Verratti with him.
“He is a great coach, but as far as I know he is still at PSG. If he chooses differently, then I can’t say anything about that,” Verratti told Spanish newspaper AS.
“I am here to play with Italy at the European Under-21 Championships, which is something that I’ll only get to do once in my life, so I am focused on that. After that, then we’ll see.
“We have been working together for two years and are like a family, a group of friends who came here to Israel in order to go as far as possible in the competition.”
The Azzurrini opened the tournament by beating England 1-0 and are therefore top of Group A, while Israel and Norway have a point each.
Liverpool are seen as likely to wrap up a move for Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas in the coming days.
The Premier League side were reported at the end of May as having reached an agreement with the Galicians to transfer the striker to Anfield this summer.
Believed to be paying around €9.5m for his signature, the Reds were also assumed to have primarily agreed a €1.6m salary with the 25-year-old.
Reports in Spain this week have it that the finer points to those numbers have been negotiated, with Celta now understood to be receiving an initial €9m in the operation.
The deal is expected to be announced in the coming days.
Benfica are said to hold an interest in Atletico Madrid full-back Emiliano Insua, although a clause may block any move.
The Argentine signed for Atleti just six months ago from Sporting CP, during the winter transfer window.
However, in light of Filipe Luis’ form ahead of him, the 24-year-old has seen limited playing time.
It is a situation that has both Los Colchoneros and the player open to a transfer out, and Benfica are seemingly first in line.
Insua is reported by A Bola to be the Portuguese side’s primary objective at full-back, at the express request of Coach Jorge Jesus.
However, a stumbling block apparently comes in the form of a penalty clause inserted into Insua’s deal to join Atletico. If he were to return to Portugal to play for another team, Sporting can reportedly claim a payment of €10m.
Levante are poised to announce Joaquin Caparros as their new coach to replace the departing Juan Ignacio Martinez.
Martinez was confirmed earlier this week as on his way out of Ciutat de Valencia this summer, with Los Granotes taking the decision not to renew his contract.
Caparros was listed as one of the possible replacements and it seems as though Levante have made their move, with it reported that a contract is set to be agreed.
Former Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao coach Caparros, who last season left struggling Mallorca by mutual consent, is set for a two-year deal with the Valencian outfit, with it thought an option for a third year may also be included.
Caparros’ appointment would mark a change in direction for Levante from recent appointments, with both Martinez and Luis Garcia before him handed the coaching position without previous experience in La Liga.
Granada and Lucas Alcaraz have reached a ‘tentative agreement’ to continue to work together into next season.
The coach made a return to the club at the end of January, replacing Juan Antonio Anquela, and successfully managed to steer the side clear of relegation with one round of the season remaining.
The Andalucians’ form in their final six rounds of the League was bettered only by Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Despite speculation that the club was considering taking a different direction in the summer, reports this week have it that a ‘tentative agreement’ is in place for Alcaraz to sign a new contract at the club to continue into next year.
This follows a meeting this week held between Alcaraz, president Quique Pina and sporting director Juan Carlos Cordero.
