Monaco's Radamel Falcao (L) celebrates after scoring against Nantes during their French Ligue 1 soccer match at the Beaujoire in Nantes, August 24, 2014.

The Colombian striker was initially named on the bench for the match before mysteriously being withdrawn by manager Leonardo Jardim - with no mention of any injury.

Falcao has been consistently linked with a move away from the cash-rich club and his late omission from the matchday squad has intensified speculation that a move could be imminent.

It was originally thought that the former Atletico Madrid player was set for a move to city rivals Real Madrid but reports in the Spanish press on Saturday suggested that Real president Florentino Perez had cooled his interest in the players.

With Juventus having also pulled out of a deal for the forward, it is thought he could now end up plying his trade in England with Manchester City said to be favourites to secure his services.
