David Beckham may feature in Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 match at Sochaux on Sunday, but he could equally fail to make the squad according to assistant manager Paul Clement.

Former England captain Beckham, who signed for PSG on the last day of the January transfer window after leaving Los Angeles Galaxy, only started training with the French leaders this week.

But ex-Chelsea coach Clement said boss Carlo Ancelotti could use the former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder as early as this weekend.

“He is in shape,” Clement was quoted as saying by AFP. “Whether he will make it this weekend is a ‘maybe’.

“I don’t think he’s quite fit enough to debut this weekend, but it’s possible. He could be in the squad, but that will depend on how he reacts to this week’s training.

“His presence next weekend is more certain.”
