Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez demonstrated his ruthless streak with a savage shot as he took aim at a cameraman during training with Uruguay in preparation for the Copa America.

The Reds striker is taking part in the tournament which will be staged in the United States this summer. Showing his finishing prowess, he was on hand with a hat-trick as he inspired his country to a 4-0 victory in their final dress rehearsal for the continental competition against Mexico.

The Kop hero was clearly wearing his shooting boots once again during a training session with his international teammates as he fired a strike the way of a member of the media during a practice session. After seemingly mulling over whether to take the brutal shot, he could not resist as he stood over the ball.

Opposition goalkeepers in the Premier League will be used to the sight of the attacker bearing down on goal but the stray strike appeared to catch the cameraman unawares. After unleashing a powerful shot, the camera shook slightly before footage faded to a black screen - with the ball having taken it out.

A witty Reddit user commented: "I love how he goes to reconsider and then lets the intrusive thoughts win, while another fan called on the striker to show the same level of accuracy in the penalty area next season for the Reds, as they quipped: "Just imagine the back of the net is that camera man next season."

Meanwhile, an enthusiast said: "This is me trying to hit anything but the thing I’m not suppose to hit. I just can’t [...] aim and no matter how hard I try I always end up hitting things I shouldn’t," as another added: "He just needs to visualise this camera operator standing in the goal next season and he'll hit 50."

As he prepares to represent Uruguay in group games versus Panama, hosts USA and Bolivia, Nunez has expressed his feelings on some of the criticism he has faced for his performances in England in recent times. The striker ended the previous campaign on 18 goals from 54 appearances but attracted naysayers in some quarters after some wasteful showings.

Speaking to Por la Jersey, via ESPN, the forward said: "From the moment you start playing and until you retire, there will always be someone who will criticise you. I avoid reading those comments. Before, I did look at them a lot and it affected me.

Nunez added: "Whoever says that those negative comments do not affect them is lying, those negative comments that are directed towards you will always affect you. I never look at the negative comments on social media, at least now I'm not looking at anything, not even the good stuff. If a game goes badly for me, I rely on my family."
