Liverpool ‘alerted’ by ‘sudden availability’ of Ligue 1 midfield star as Klopp eyes bargain swoop
Liverpool are eyeing the signing of Renato Sanches from Paris Saint-Germain after the Ligue 1 side added him to their list of expendable players, according to a report.
Sanches recently became a suggested target for Liverpool after they turned their attention away from Jude Bellingham. It is a priority for Liverpool to strengthen their midfield this summer. However, they will have to carefully juggle their transfer funds to do so.
With Bellingham proving to be too expensive, Liverpool are looking elsewhere. Last month, they were linked with Sanches, who only joined PSG from Lille last summer.
Things have not gone as Sanches would have hoped in the French capital. Therefore, he could leave the club after just a single season. Other suitors for his signature might include Leicester City, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves, judging by previous reports.
According to an update from Football Insider, PSG have now decided to put Sanches on the transfer list. In turn, Liverpool have been ‘alerted’ by his ‘sudden availability’.
Sensing that he could be available for a ‘bargain’ transfer fee, despite being under contract in Paris until 2027, Liverpool are preparing a potential bid for the former Swansea City flop.
The report claims that Jurgen Klopp is a major admirer of Sanches and actually already recommended that Liverpool should sign him before he went to PSG instead.
Now, the Liverpool manager could be encouraging a new attempt to sign the 25-year-old. Willing to overlook how he struggled in the Premier League when he was younger, Klopp could have a role in his team for Sanches.

Liverpool ready to change midfield options
Liverpool are set to say goodbye to Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when their contracts expire in the summer. Furthermore, Arthur Melo will reach the end of his loan spell from Juventus.
James Milner is also approaching the end of his contract, although his leadership qualities may have given him a chance of staying. Nevertheless, there is an obvious need for new energy in the Liverpool engine room.
Only able to start five Ligue 1 games for PSG this season, Sanches might be waiting to be unleashed. The Portugal international could have a point to prove next season, wherever he ends up playing.
During his last season with Lille, he played 25 times in Ligue 1, scoring two goals and adding five assists, which may be a fairer reflection of the player he has become.
Therefore, signing him could be a calculated risk by Liverpool. At this moment in time, they are working from a long list of targets, but Sanches is among them.
Other names in contention, the report reminds, include Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister and Fulham’s Joao Palhinha.
