Liverpool and Arsenal are willing to ‘fight’ for the signature of PSV Eindhoven teenager Xavi Simons, according to a report.

Simons joined the Dutch club from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer.

It is believed that PSG have the option to buy the youngster back from PSV next year, however.

And they might do just that given his form this season.

The Amsterdam-born winger has scored ten goals in 19 matches across all competitions this term, including eight in ten Eredivisie encounters.

Being tipped to be picked by Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal for the World Cup, interest in Simons is heating up.

Spanish outlet Fichajes report that ‘three greats’ are ready to ‘fight’ for his signature.

First up is Arsenal, who were beaten 2-0 by PSV in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

‘The Gunner team’, the report says, were ‘impressed’ by Simons’ performances against them in Europe.

Manager Mikel Arteta believes he is the ‘ideal profile’ for his attack as he ‘fits perfectly’ into his ‘system and club project’.

Arteta has focused on signing younger players after being disappointed by the likes of Willian.

Arsenal signed seven players in 2021-22, all of which were 23 or younger at the time.

This philosophy carried over to this summer, with Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira joining the club.

After the Gunner team, AC Milan are given a shout.

The Italian champions are apparently looking for a new ‘creative profile in three quarters of the pitch’ and Simons can certainly be that player.

Finally, it is said that Liverpool are interested.

Jurgen Klopp is a big fan and believes Simons would ‘fit perfectly’ in his team and into the Merseyside club’s ‘renewal plan’.

As mentioned prior, it has been reported by 90min that PSG have the option to buy Simons back from PSV.

It looked likely that the Dutch teenager would pen a new deal in the French capital, however, he opted to go back to his home country, where he is now thriving.

The report says his buyback clause is as little as a fee between €10m and €12m, with that amount rising every summer.

Said clause has an unknown expiry date, as well.
