Liverpool break two records at Anfield as Arne Slot change clear
Liverpool broke two club Premier League records as the Reds cruised to victory over Brentford 2-0 at Anfield. Arne Slot’s first competitive home game saw his side cruise to a comfortable win, with goals coming from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, but the performance could hold some clues for what’s to come under the Dutchman.
Slot’s men set a record with the amount of accurate passes played, with 551 passes completed out of a total 602 attempted, a 92% pass accuracy, the most for a Liverpool team since Opta records began in 2003/04.
This evidently shows the level of control Slot wants over games, as he mentioned in an interview with Jamie Carragher (for Sky) before Sundays affair.
He said: “Sometimes I tell the players to get a better judgement in risk and reward.
“So if you can put some balls in front of the goalkeeper, please try and do so if not, it’s also a good idea to keep the ball.”
However, that wasn’t the only record broken, as a new club record attendance was set against the Bees.
60,107 fans made the trip to Anfield, beating the previous record set against Crystal Palace last April.
The instillation of new seats in the lower Anfield Road End helped add an extra 17 supporters in attendance.
