According to reports, Liverpool are “certainly interested’ in signing Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, but there will be an “open race” to sign him.

The 18-year-old has been with Dortmund since 2020. They beat Man Utd to the singing of the Birmingham City academy product.

The England international has already played 90 times for the German outfit. This includes several impressive showings in the Champions League.

With Dortmund selling Erling Haaland to Man City, it has never been on the cards for Bellingham to also leave this summer.

Though the midfielder is expected to leave the club in 2023. His current contract expires in 2025.

Liverpool are known to be admirers of Bellingham and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this:

“There is no chance for Jude Bellingham to leave Borussia Dortmund before summer 2023,” Romano told CaughtOffside.

“Liverpool are certainly interested for next summer – his talent and personality make him look like the perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team – but there is absolutely no definite deal because so many clubs want Jude and it will be an open race.

“From sources close to the family, a potential transfer for his younger brother Jobe Bellingham, currently at Jude’s old club Birmingham City, will not affect Jude’s next destination.”

Elsewhere, Gary Neville has admitted that Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have stayed at Manchester City and Liverpool longer than he expected.

“The worry for the rest is that I thought these two managers would be gone two or three seasons ago,” he told The Overlap Live. “I thought they’re gonna do four years, five years and then they’ll go. That next challenge will come: Barcelona, Real Madrid, wherever the next challenge is.

“The problem is now, they’ve both embedded themselves into these two clubs, because they’re recognised the league’s the best it’s ever been, the rest of the leagues in Europe aren’t in a stronger position, the clubs that they’re at are giving them everything they want and more, and they’re now going to be here for another three years, maybe, four years. That’s the scary thing.”
