Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says his side are “not stupid” and know they must win all of their remaining matches to pip Liverpool to the title.

Jurgen Klopp’s challengers climbed to the top of the Premier League with their 4-0 demolition of Manchester United on Tuesday night, but were quickly overhauled by City as they beat Brighton 3-0 the following evening.

Guardiola’s men are a single point clear with both teams having six matches remaining and the Spaniard believes the only was to stay on top is to be perfect from hereon in.

“We are not stupid,” Guardiola told BBC Sport. “If we draw, drop just two points, Liverpool will be champions.

“If we win all our games we will be champions. The players know it.

“We know the tough games we have and we must try to perform like today and win them all. If we do that we will celebrate, if not we will congratulate Liverpool.”
