June 1 represented Arne Slot's first official day in charge of Liverpool, and the Dutchman will no doubt want to get a run of things quickly. Away from the pitch, the 45-year-old will likely have transfer targets in mind with the summer transfer window set to open at the beginning of July.

Liverpool will likely buy players this summer, but it's unlikely we will see the influx of players we saw last summer, when the Reds revolutionized the midfield by bringing in four new players. The current squad just needs some more evolving this time around.

Of course, much will also depend on if any major players this summer, which could lead to a rethink. One name who has been linked with a move to Liverpool is Crystal Palace's Michael Olise.

Olise was one of Palace's best performers last season, scoring 10 goals and four assists from 19 league games. Injuries ruled him out for certain periods of time and reduced his playing time, but his performances haven't gone unnoticed, and the bigger sides in the Premier League are circling.

The Mirror reports that both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing Olise this summer, and Palace could replace him with Leeds forward Crysencio Summerville — who has also been linked with a move to Liverpool — should Olise depart.

Liverpool has also been connected with a move for Summerville due to Leeds' failure to win promotion back to the Premier League, where it lost in the play-off final to Southampton at Wembley. The Yorkshire side will need to sell players as a result.

However, it's not certain that Liverpool will buy any forwards unless one of the current batch leaves. Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota might be enough for Slot, even with Liverpool being back in the Champions League again next season.

It's likely the club will only invest in another forward should one leave, with Salah and Díaz linked with moves away in recent times. The Colombian is wanted by Barcelona, and Salah is continually linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Palace's good form in the second half of the season saw it finish 10th in the table, and the speculation has now started as to how many of its big-name players it can hold on to, with Eberechi Eze also being linked with a summer departure.

Liverpool.com says: Olise was in superb form towards the back end of the season, but it remains to be seen if Liverpool need to sign another forward at the minute. The situation would only change should one of the current pack leave, so it's very much a case of 'wait and see' for the moment. In any case, his injury history would be a concern.
