Liverpool have been dealt a blow in the race to sign Burnley's star defender Michael Keane with the England international looking more likely to sign for Tottenham, report the Telegraph.
Keane's solid performances at the back throughout the season have generated a lot of interest in the Premier League with Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United all interested in signing the Clarets man.
However the Reds are reported to be down the defenders wish list with Tottenham being the favourite or even a return move to Manchester United who sold Keane for £2m last season.
Jose Mourinho may pass on the opportunity of resigning Keane, who is now worth an estimated £30m, as he looks to make a move for Eric Dier and if the Burnley man does sign for Spurs it could persuade Mauricio Pochettino to let their defensive midfielder go.
The Tottenham manager has been using Dier on the right hand side of a three man defence with Victor Wanyama taking his preferred holding midfield position. The change hasn't really suited him but with Keane proving he can perform both in a three man and four man lineup he could be the perfect solution for Pochettino.
Keane has played in all of Burnley's 34 league games this season and keeping nine clean sheets he has helped to keep them above the drop zone. His efforts have impressed England manager Gareth Southgate with Keane receiving his first England cap during the friendly against Germany last month.
