Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Wolves defensive midfielder Mario Lemina after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

The 29-year-old has put in some good performances since joining the Midlands side in January last year. He was particularly impressive against Manchester United on Monday, too.

Liverpool are on the verge of singing Wataro Endo from Stuttgart for a fee of £15.4m. The Japan international may not be the last midfielder the Reds bring in this summer, though.

Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain have all left the club since last season, so another midfield addition certainly wouldn’t go amiss.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Manchester United-linked Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat is well-liked by Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool are said to have ‘re-opened’ talks with the Morocco international at Klopp’s request, but they still face a battle to beat Man Utd to his signature.

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Fulham’s Joao Palhinha have also been touted as potential options, so there is no doubt Liverpool are looking to bring in more players before the transfer window slams shut.

According to French outlet Foot MercatoWolves’ Lemina has emerged as a target for Liverpool.

As mentioned, the Gabon international signed for Wolves in January. He has since made 20 appearances for the Midlands club.

Lemina’s performances have reportedly ‘impressed’ Liverpool ‘in particular,’ with two other unnamed Premier League clubs interested in signing him. There is also said to be competition from Saudi Arabia.

The defensive midfielder’s contract is valid until 2025 and he is ‘happy with Wolves,’ who are under no immediate pressure to sell him.

It could therefore require a substantial offer from Liverpool to convince Gary O’Neill to sell him so close to the end of the transfer window. Foot Mercato add, however, that a transfer ‘cannot be ruled out for the very courted player.’

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool make a concrete offer for Lemina over the next few days. If he can perform like he did against Man Utd for the Reds, he would be worth every penny.

If Liverpool don’t make an offer soon, one of the other suitors for the Gabonese star may swoop in for his signature.
