Liverpool fans have been crying out for the signing of Monaco's highly rated left-back Benjamin Mendy with a series of positive posts on the social media site Twitter.
The tweets came to prominence, via Football Insider 247, after witnessing the 22-year-old's exploits in the 3-1 Champions League round of 16 win against fellow Premier League rivals Manchester City on Wednesday night.
The French Ligue 1 leaders advanced to the quarter-finals thanks to the away goals ruling in a thrilling 6-6 aggregate battle.
The plaudits for the energetic Frenchman came as follows...
Benjamin Mendy, what a player! Club should break the bank for this actual left back with actual end product #LFC

Monaco has so many good players like Mbappé Silva and Mendy won't be bad if we sign anyone of them #LFC

Sidibe, Mendy, Bakayoko, Fabinho, Lemar, Silva n Mbappe would be decent signings for #LFC

If it's exuberance and an end product the Reds fans want from a left back, they've chosen well in pinpointing Mendy as their preferred target come the summer.
Mendy supplied Fabinho with a goal in the first half last night after his driven cross was converted by the comfortable Brazilian, who made it 2-0 just before the break.
That particular assist amounted as his 9th of the season from left-back, with seven of those assists coming after the turn of the year.
Jurgen Klopp has a conundrum of his own to deal with at left-back. England utility man James Milner has been deputising the defensive duties on the left flank for the majority of the season. Spanish international Alberto Moreno has also been a mere shadow for the Anfield club this season.
Mendy is contracted to staying at the Stade Louis II until 2021, and with such a buzz growing around the player, it's going to take quite a substantial deal if it's going to sway Leonardo Jardim to let him go.
