Liverpool have Nathaniel Phillips back for this afternoon’s must-win Premier League trip to Manchester United - though protests by hundreds of United fans ahead of kick-off have marred the contest.

Hundreds of United fans got into Old Trafford ahead of the behind-closed-doors contest to express their anger following plans backed by the Glazer family to join a proposed European Super League, which collapsed soon after.

While the scheduled kick-off time of 4:30pm BST is in doubt, team news was released at 3:30pm.

The champions sit four points off the top four with five games remaining, and anything less than a win at Old Trafford could deal a hammer blow to Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of a Champions League qualification.

It has been an injury-hit campaign for Liverpool and a number of key players remain sidelined, with Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Divock Origi all out along with Caoimhim Keller.

However, the return of Phillips from a thigh problem allows Klopp to restore Fabinho to his midfield three.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson, Thiago, Fabinho, Milner, Salah, Firmino, Mane

Subs: Wijnaldum, Keita, Adrian, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Jota, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, Rhys Williams

Injury list: Van Dijk (knee), Gomez (knee), Matip (ankle), Henderson (groin), Kelleher (chest), Origi (muscle)
