Liverpool and FSG already know Mohamed Salah new contract verdict as wait goes on
Mohamed Salah stole the show during Liverpool's 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday. Less than 24 hours later he had snatched the headlines after his clearest contract hint yet.
With just over six months left on his current deal at Anfield, the Reds now face their toughest contract negotiations to date with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes tasked with three important deals. Salah dominates the landscape as he continues to show no sign of slowing down after his St Mary's brace took Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and his tally for the domestic campaign to 10 goals.
Speaking after the triumph to assembled media in the mixed zone, Salah said: "Well, we are almost in December and I haven't received any offers yet to stay in the club, [so] I'm probably more out than in.

"You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said before, it is December and I haven't received anything yet about my future.
"I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans' hands. Let's wait and see. Of course [no offer is disappointing], yeah.
"I'm not going to retire soon so I'm just playing, focusing on the season and I'm trying to win the Premier League and hopefully the Champions League as well. I'm disappointed but we will see.
"I'm very professional. Everybody can see my work ethic. I'm just trying to enjoy my football and I will play at the top level as long as possible. I'm just doing my best because this is who I am and I try to give it all for myself and for the club. We will see what happens next."
Liverpool were in a similar situation, albeit with a younger Salah, two years ago as he faced the prospect of entering the final 12 months of his contract during the Reds formidable Premier League, Champions League and domestic cup run - that saw them land a Carabao Cup and FA Cup double before marginally losing out in the title race and to Real Madrid in Paris.
And in January 2022, the Egyptian made similar comments about his future. Speaking to GQ magazine at the time, he said: "I want to stay, but it's not in my hands. It's in their hands. They know what I want. I'm not asking for crazy stuff.
"The thing is, when you ask for something, and they show you they can give you something [they should] because they appreciate what you did for the club.
"I've been here for my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me. But with the administration, they have [been] told the situation. It's in their hands."
There are striking similarities and then, as well as now, Salah continues to prove how pivotal he is to this Liverpool team. It was only a matter of months after the disappointment in the league and in Europe that Reds supporters were stunned by a contract extension for the Egyptian.
Like Déjà vu, Liverpool face another major decision regarding the 32-year-old. But could his previous comments be the good omen?
