Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson admitted that it's 'a bit of a worry' that Trent Alexander-Arnold could leave Liverpool for free next summer.

The right-back is into the final year of his contract on Merseyside and has been linked with a remarkable free transfer to Real Madrid. Alexander-Arnold is one of three key Liverpool players who are into the final year of their deals, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk's futures also looking uncertain.

Jude Bellingham is good friends with Alexander-Arnold, with the pair pictured together in America during the summer, and Lawrenson fears that the Bellingham factor could tempt the right-back into a move to Spain.

“With Van Dijk I’m not sure, and with Trent, the big rumor here on Merseyside is that his big mate (Bellingham) is playing for Real Madrid isn’t he? And he could walk out the door next summer and play for Real Madrid and get however many millions, that’s a bit of a worry,” Lawrenson said.

A report by The Independent on Monday said that Madrid is plotting a move for Alexander-Arnold as part of a raid for a series of high-performing Premier League players. The report says Alexander-Arnold, Rodri, William Saliba and Cristiano Romero are all being monitored by the European champions.

While Reds captain Van Dijk recently stated his desire to stay at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold has remained curiously quiet on his future. However, the Liverpool Echo reported in August that Alexander-Arnold was 'determined not to have talks over his future be played out in public out of respect for his boyhood club'.
