Liverpool reportedly had a ‘meeting’ with Alexis Mac Allister’s agent during their 5-2 loss at Anfield against Real Madrid earlier this month.

Mac Allister’s reputation has gone through the roof in recent months. He played a key role as Argentina were able to win the World Cup for the third time last year.

Following his great performances in Qatar, it is being reported that he is looking to leave Brighton in the coming months. Arsenal are among the clubs being linked with him.

Football Transfers are reporting that Mac Allister’s agent ‘sat with Liverpool officials’ to watch on as Jurgen Klopp’s side were beaten 5-2 by Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on February 21.

Carlos Mac Allister – the player’s father and agent – was a ‘club guest’ for the Champions League clash. It is indicated that the midfielder is valued at £70m and he has ‘has attracted interest from a string of top European clubs’.

The report claims that Liverpool’s interest in Mac Allister ‘would not be in lieu of Mason Mount of Chelsea’.

Mount is out of contract in 2024 and it has been reported that he will be sold this summer if he does not sign a new deal. The report adds that the Englishman’s ‘main choice of club’ would be Liverpool if he does exit Chelsea.

While interest remains in these targets, Liverpool are still looking to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.

The report from Football Transfers adds that Liverpool have a ‘degree of confidence that a deal can be done’. It is reported that a ‘fair chunk of their budget has been set aside’ to facilitate a move for Bellingham.

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl stated earlier this month that they intend to keep Bellingham for “as long as possible”.

“There has been no new development,” said Kehl. “We’ll have to be patient for a little longer.

“But of course, we try to keep Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund as long as possible because he is an incredibly important player who has shown once again this season how he identifies with this club and makes the team better.”

Kehl added: “Things develop due to market mechanisms. So of course I have my thoughts and also have my wishful thinking. I can’t say whether that will happen in the end.

“From Borussia Dortmund’s point of view, the wishful thinking would be to keep a player of this quality at this club for as long as possible. I would also like to have kept Erling Haaland or Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund, because you can only imagine if we had managed to keep all three players in one team, what opportunities would then arise?

“We will always try everything to keep players of this quality at BVB – because we are ambitious because we want to win titles. For this we need not only good, but also outstanding players.”

The report from Football Transfers claims that the ‘defiance’ from Kehl is ‘merely a tool to keep Bellingham’s price at a premium and there is an anticipation that he will be sold this upcoming summer window’.
