Liverpool home kit for 2018/19 revealed and modelled by Mo Salah

It’s red. Very red.
It’s red. Very red.

This is Liverpool’s home kit for the 2018/19 season and surprise, surprise it’s red.

Modelled by attacking trio Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah (which of course means the 40-goal superstar is staying this summer) as well as captain Jordan Henderson and squad player Adam Lallana.

Apparently the shirts have maintained the ‘red pepper’ colour of the 2017-18 shirt, whatever that is, which was the most popular in the club’s history.

The home kit is predominantly red (obviously) and features white piping as well as a buttoned collar, which let’s face it makes the kit feel a bit 1990s.

The Hillsborough disaster is also commemorated on the neck, with the 96 emblem and eternal flames.

According to Liverpool’s official website: “The redesigned strip for next term retains the hugely popular retro styling and colour scheme of the current season – featuring a rich, deeper red – as well as linear stripes on the front of the shirt which are inspired by the landmark architecture of the redeveloped Main Stand.

“LFC and New Balance have also reintroduced a tipped two-button polo collar that makes the stylish jersey even more wearable for supporters.

“To celebrate the launch of the new kit, 30 fans who pre-order the 2018-19 home shirt will be selected at random to receive their strip for free as a surprise, while the club will donate 125 shirts to local children from Anfield schools involved with the Red Neighbours programme to mark the end of our 125th anniversary year.”

Liverpool have also released new name and styles for next season, which are inspired by Anfield and local street signs.

The Reds’ New Balance strip for next season was unveiled on Thursday and can be pre-ordered online or in store now ahead of its Friday May 11 release.

The style, which can be seen in the image above, references the typeface used on the main stadium signage at Anfield as well as that used on street signs throughout the city of Liverpool.

In addition, depth is added to the numbering by incorporating the bold drop shadow seen in the seating within the stadium itself.

Club captain Jordan Henderson said: “Our kit isn’t just something we wear to play, it’s part of who we are as team, we feel immensely proud when pulling on the LFC Home shirt, it means more to us than you could even imagine; after all, Liverpool Football Club is like no other.

“I have no doubt that our fans will love the new kit, and will wear it with pride when supporting us this coming season.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool also revealed their home goalkeeper kit for next season which is a yellow with black patterned sleeves and embroidered logo and crest.

New Balance general manager Kenny McCallum added: “We’re extremely excited to reveal the New Balance LFC Home Kit for next season.

“We’ve worked closely with LFC to create a kit which supports high performance on the pitch and is visually stunning as well. We are really looking forward to seeing what the club will achieve next season wearing the new kit.”
