Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham has been advised that he should sign for Liverpool this summer as he can ‘go to Real Madrid in five to six years’.

The race to sign Bellingham is hotting up ahead of the summer with Liverpool among several clubs interested in the teenager.

The 19-year-old’s reputation has rocketed over the past couple of years as he has performed like a player beyond his years both for Dortmund and England.

He remains under contract until 2025 but he looks set to leave the Bundesliga outfit in the summer with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City all chasing him.

It is understood that he could cost as much as £130m ahead of next season and Liverpool have identified him as their main target.

Conflicting reports about Bellingham have emerged in recent weeks. On Thursday evening, it was claimed by Spanish outlet Defensa Central that his move to Real Madrid is ‘getting closer’.

It was also claimed that the total cost for Bellingham will be €270m. This is with the transfer fee and salary for six years included.

But earlier this week, it was reported that Liverpool will make a ‘cheat offer’ that would see Bellingham’s family benefit if he moves to Anfield.

Now German journalist Christian Falk is reporting that Jurgen Klopp ‘remains the hope of Liverpool’ as he has been trying to ‘convince’ Bellingham into joining the Premier League club.

Falk does suggest that Liverpool should target Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone if they miss out on Bellingham.

‘The next step should be the Premier League because he can always go to Real Madrid in five or six years, he’s got a lot of time,’ Falk wrote for Caught Offside.

‘Jurgen Klopp remains the hope of Liverpool, he’s been convincing in terms of his plans for the player but Dortmund, of course, want a lot of money. If they don’t bring the money to the table then Real Madrid will be in the driver’s seat.

‘Bellingham would like to play for Liverpool. His father, who is the main character in this potential deal, is also convinced of that but Dortmund has to get the money for this deal.

‘The first target is Bellingham. If he won’t come to Liverpool, they need a player like Kouadio ‘Manu’ Kone.

‘At the moment, other clubs are closer to him; Leipzig are trying to get him.

‘Leipzig have a new sporting director in Max Eberl, who previously worked for Gladbach, and he was the manager who brought Kone from France.’

Kone, aged 21, is valued at €25m by transfermarkt and the midfielder has shone in the Bundesliga over the past year.
