Liverpool’s injury woes have become worse with Naby Keita appearing to injure his thigh while playing for the Guinea in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Keita started the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Kigali but was forced off in the first half.

The extent of Keita’s injury is currently unknown but it is the latest set-back for Liverpool and another unwanted distraction for Klopp.

According to reports a stretcher wasn’t available so one of his international team-mates was required to carry him off the pitch on his back.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp blasted the Uefa Nations League last week, saying the international windows now put too much strain on players so the German will be left ruing this weekend.

Sadio Mane was taken to hospital yesterday ahead of Senegal’s game against Sudan having reportedly broken his thumb.

The news came after both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk had both picked up injuries for Egypt and Holland respectively.

Meanwhile, James Milner injured his hamstring against Manchester City 10 days ago but reports claim that the midfielder could be available.

And now Keita’s injury could rob Klopp of a fourth key player for Saturday’s visit to Huddersfield.

Liverpool sit third in the Premier League after an eight-game unbeaten start to the season, with Manchester City and Chelsea ahead of them on goal difference only.
