Liverpool are among the early favourites to sign Birmingham City wonderkid Jobe Bellingham, though their chances of signing brother Jude are practically nil.

The Reds have taken a liking to signing promising youngsters who are tipped to go far in recent years. Harvey Elliott was snapped up from Fulham when only 16 and has already thrust himself into first-team contention this season.

19-year-old Fabio Carvalho will arrive from the Cottagers this summer and give Jurgen Klopp’s attack another dimension. Details on that move can be found here.

And according to the Mirror, Liverpool have another iron in the fire in the form of Birmingham City midfielder, Jobe Bellingham.

The 16-year-old is the brother of Borussia Dortmund sensation, Jude. Jude has also been linked with Liverpool in recent times, though recently made his short-term future crystal clear.

Speaking to German outlet Ruhr Nachrichten, Jude Bellingham stated: “The only future I think about is the next game for Dortmund.

“I look forward to next season. I look forward to it finally starting. But yes, I will be here next season and I will be ready.”

With Jude off the table for another year at least, the Mirror shed light on Liverpool’s burgeoning pursuit of Jobe.

The newspaper describe Liverpool as ‘leading’ the race in which Man City and Newcastle are contenders.

The Reds have reportedly asked to be kept abreast of his situation with Jobe free to sign a professional contract with other clubs beginning next season.

Jobe has made three senior appearances for Lee Bowyer’s side despite only being 16. Understandably, the Blues wish to keep the talented youngster around for a little while longer and have offered him scholarship terms.

However, his versatility in particular is reportedly making him an attractive proposition to the big hitters. Aside from anywhere in midfield, he can also play wing-back and centre-forward.

Jobe Bellingham swoop a win-win?

On paper, a move for Jobe Bellingham would be a win-win for Liverpool. Whether he can go on to hit the heights his brother has, only time will tell. But at just 16 and already earning first-team minutes, Jobe is clearly trending in the right direction.

He would appear unlikely to make an impact in Jurgen Klopp’s plans anytime soon if signed.

However, with James Milner 36 and Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson both 31, the Reds’ midfield will need refreshing in the not too distant future.

Furthermore, the presence of Jobe at the club could in theory help Liverpool to land Jude down the line.
