Andy Robertson is in a good position to judge wingers. The Liverpool hero has faced plenty of the world's best in a career which has seen him represent club and country at the very highest level.

Scotland defender Robertson has won the Premier League title and the Champions League with the Reds, as well as representing his country at two European Championships. So when he says Middlesbrough loanee Ben Doak has got a 'bright future' ahead of him then it's worth taking note.

Doak is the current hot prospect in the Scotland squad, having made a big impression on Teesside under Michael Carrick after a summer loan move. He set up John McGinn's winner in Friday night's 1-0 victory over Croatia and is set for another key role when Steve Clarke's side take on Poland in Warsaw.

Robertson has followed Doak's progress after coming through the ranks at Anfield, and has been impressed with his contribution with the Scotland squad - even if he admits he gives him a hard time to ensure the performs at the highest level.

“I'm always on Doaky just because of the Liverpool connection," Robertson said. "I just like being on him and trying to get the best out of him.

“The wee man's flying and he's doing so well, which is great to see. He's got a bright future ahead of him.”

Doak has featured 10 times for Boro this season, scoring once and contributing three assists as Carrick looks to get the best out of the 19-year-old. He's started eight games and is set to play a key role in their promotion push - with Liverpool boss Arne Slot keeping a close eye on his progress.
