Liverpool locker room feelings on Arne Slot emerge after 'significant change'
Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister has highlighted the size of the task facing Arne Slot but remains optimistic about the future.
Slot has made a promising start as Liverpool manager, securing victories in four out of his first five games. However, stepping into Jurgen Klopp's shoes is no easy feat, given the German's status as one of the club's most successful managers.
Mac Allister, 25, is tipped to be a key player for Slot in the coming years. He acknowledges that it will require a significant effort from the Dutchman to emulate Klopp's success, but he feels things are moving in the right direction.
"I think the team is still in a period of transition, which is quite normal," midfielder Mac Allister told club media ahead of Saturday's clash with Bournemouth.
"Jurgen was here for a good few years. For example, there are some players who had only ever played under Jurgen and had never had another coach. So, it is a significant change within the club, but I think Arne came here with very good ideas and I think that the whole group and the fans can see what he is wanting to do and the ideas he is wanting to express in the team."
Mac Allister also shared the squad's sentiments towards Slot, stating: "We're all very happy and feel really positive about what is ahead.
"As I say, we've a lot of games coming up and there's a lot of competition, and that's what we like; this squad is full of great players, and we can take on board the tactical ideas that Arne wants to implement. But as I mentioned, we are in a transitional period and looking to put in place the ideas and concepts that Arne wants us to."
Slot acknowledges the strong foundation laid by Klopp, especially in his final years as he revitalised Liverpool's squad. "He has done a tremendous job over here and I am really happy with that as a fan, but now as his successor he left Liverpool in the best possible way, I think," Slot said during preseason. "So, a very good team, the fans are very good as well, so [I am] looking forward to it."
