Liverpool midfielder signs new contract after major first-team breakthrough
Trey Nyoni has capped a breakthrough year at Liverpool by signing his first professional contract at the club. The 17-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a new deal with the Reds after forcing his way into the first-team reckoning since arriving from Leicester City in August 2023.
Nyoni became the third youngest debutant in Liverpool's history and the youngest player to appear for the club in the FA Cup when, aged 16 years and 243 days, he featured as substitute in the fifth round win over Southampton in February.
A few days earlier, the teenager had claimed the first major honour of his career when he was on the bench for the League Cup final win over Chelsea at Wembley.

Nyoni was given opportunities during pre-season under new boss Arne Slot and scored in the 4-1 friendly victory over Sevilla at Anfield in August.
On his arrival at the start of last season, Nyoni quickly progressed from the under-18 side - scoring a late derby winner against Everton on his home debut - and is now a regular with the U21s. And he captained the U19 side in their UEFA Youth League opener at AC Milan last month, which ended in a goalless draw.
Nyoni, who was on the bench earlier this month for the Champions League win over Bologna, has this week been with the England U18s squad in their latest get-together in Marbella and started the 3-1 win over Ukraine on Monday.
