Liverpool have further cemented their place as the most successful team in English football history following their League Cup final win earlier this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed a dramatic 1-0 win in February's final courtesy of Virgil van Dijk's goal at the end of extra time after the match finished 0-0 after 90 minutes. And the victory was enough to keep them ahead of Manchester United, despite the Red Devils' FA Cup final win over Chelsea.

There has been a fierce battle for sole control over the honour between the Reds and Manchester United with many fans adding or discounting certain competitions to favour their side.

However, after Jurgen Klopp's side claimed silverware this season - there can now be no debate about who reigns supreme in English club football. A total of 51 major trophies have made their way back to Anfield.

After their latest Wembley triumph, Liverpool's haul now consists of 19 league titles, eight FA Cups and 10 League Cups on the domestic front. In addition, there are six European Cups/ Champions Leagues, three UEFA Cup/Europa Leagues, four European Super Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup.

In contrast, United have won a total of 47 major trophies after picking up two pieces of silverware during Erik Ten Hag's reign. Their list includes 20 league titles, 13 FA Cups, six League Cups, three European Cups, one European Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Cup/Europa League, one European Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
