Conor Bradley has offered an honest assessment of his own performance in Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. The Northern Ireland international made his first start since the end of November, having returned from a hamstring injury in the Reds’ 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

The right-back completed 60 minutes before being replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold. And he’s admitted that Liverpool are still managing him carefully as he looks to get back up to speed after a six-week lay-off.

“I think we were sort of shaky at times,” Bradley said. Some new players came in, I’ve obviously been out for six weeks so I gave away the ball a bit too much.

“But, no, I thought it was a good performance, just disappointed with the result and the [Bergvall] decision.

"You've just always got to be ready for a chance. Whenever you're called upon, just be ready to come in and give your all for the team and just try to help the team win in any way you can. That's what I always try to do and just be ready.

"I think there always is [some rustiness] when you've been out for a couple of weeks. I felt like I was just growing and growing into the game.

"Obviously we're just managing my minutes, coming off at 60, and I'm ready to go again on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bradley has warned Tottenham that Liverpool already can’t wait to face them in next month’s League Cup semi-final second leg, after seeing Spurs issue a response of their own following their 6-3 loss to the Reds last month.

"With the result last time we were here, they were probably deflated from it and they wanted to show something from it,” he told the club website. "They're always going to show up with a bit more fight and things like that.

“Bring on the second leg. Obviously Anfield is our home and we love playing there. Having the fans with us, we can't wait to get back there and it'll be a good second leg.

"We've overcome worse than a 1-0, so we're looking forward to it."

Liverpool will host Tottenham Hotspur in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final on Thursday 6 February.
