Liverpool player ratings as Conor Bradley and seven others brilliant as Real Madrid dismantled
Liverpool maintained their 100% start to their Champions League campaign with a comprehensive dismantling of Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night. Alexis Mac Allister and substitute Cody Gakpo were on the mark in the second half as the Reds remained top of the league in the competition's first stage.
The result means Arne Slot has now overseen 17 wins in his first 19 games in a game where Caoimhin Kelleher saved a penalty from Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah struck the post with another.
And here the ECHO runs the rule over the Liverpool players after an impressive victory.

Caoimhin Kelleher 8
Not much to do first half as Real Madrid were kept at arm’s length and excellent penalty stop to deny Mbappe second half.
Conor Bradley 9
Roused crowd with thunderous tackle on Mbappe and dominated his rival, assisted the opener and drew fine save from Courtois. Excellent but injury a worry. Subbed.
Ibrahim Konate 8
Good decision-making and solid defensively and dealt with Mbappe when his compatriot switched to a central position. Injury on final whistle a concern, though.
Virgil van Dijk 8
Dominated the aerial battle and able to step up into midfield on occasion before break, and became a threat from set-pieces later on.
Andy Robertson 7
Much better than at weekend, linked well with Diaz going forward and defended diligently. Overcame conceding another soft, avoidable penalty by putting in cross for second goal.
Ryan Gravenberch 8
Excellent in using ball and driving forward, finding plenty of space in the process, helping Liverpool control midfield. Booked.
Alexis Mac Allister 8
Passing was largely on point first half and found some good pockets. Created chance for Nunez and then unlocked the Real Madrid defence by initiating and scoring the opener. Booked.
Mohamed Salah 7
Lively during the opening exchanges and continued to be a threat whenever in possession. Did so well to win penalty which he then promptly missed.
Curtis Jones 9
Ability to keep hold of the ball so useful in this competition and a danger when drifting into the box, and came into his own second half by leaving much-vaunted opposing midfielders in his wake. Brilliant.
Luis Diaz 8
Started brightly but should have been more bold up against stand-in right-back Valverde. Second half better, especially when switched to central position. Tenacious.
Darwin Nunez 7
Denied by Courtois from close range, unlucky with improvised header just wide and decent link play. Booked and subbed.
Cody Gakpo (for Nunez 67) 7
Worked hard down the left and excellent header for the second.
Dominik Szoboszlai (for Jones 83)
Ran about for a bit.
Joe Gomez (for Bradley 87)
Good evening, sir.
