Liverpool has been drawn to face Brighton and Hove Albion in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, meaning a long journey down to the south of England for Arne Slot and his team.

Slot's side booked their spot in the draw after beating West Ham 5-1 at Anfield on Wednesday night, and discovered their opponents shortly after the game. Brighton beat fellow Premier League team Wolves in the third round, and has earned a second-straight home draw.

Brighton will pose a serious challenge for Liverpool and Slot, with the Sussex team currently seventh in the Premier League and one of only four unbeaten teams in the division. Brighton will host Liverpool on the week commencing Oct. 28, just days after Slot's team play Arsenal in the Premier League.

Liverpool secured its biggest win of the season to reach the fourth round, as Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo both scored a brace in a dominant 5-1 at Anfield. Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool's other goal from the bench, while defender Jarell Quansah gave West Ham an early lead through an unfortunate own goal.

Slot spent all summer praising the depth of his squad when being asked about summer transfers, in what was a very quiet window for the Reds. Slot was finally given the opportunity to test his squad players against Premier League opposition, and it resulted in Liverpool's biggest win of the season.

"We made quite a lot of changes but I said many times before that I think we have a really strong squad," Slot told Sky Sports on Wednesday. "These ones haven't played that much, the others have played a lot. I think they are ready to play tonight in a very important game for us.

"So that's why we chose them. There's a big history for this club in this Carabao Cup, and of course last season all the fans, but even I remember what happened in the final with all these youngsters being on the pitch and Virgil (Van Dijk) scoring a header, but it's only the first game."

Liverpool could not be stopped against West Ham on Wednesday.
