According to reports, a move to Liverpool is Calvin Ramsay’s ‘preferred option’ this summer with the Reds looking for a back-up to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 18-year-old has progressed through the ranks at Aberdeen. He made his senior debut for them in March 2020.

The right-back was more of a regular in 2021/22 as he played 33 times for the Scottish side across all competitions.

James Milner is priceless for sensible Liverpool and may even be Klopp successor

Ramsay has been capped at youth level for Scotland and he has gained more admirers in recent months.

Sky Sports are reporting that Liverpool are ‘leading the chase’ to sign the youngster this summer.

Teams in England, Germany and Italy are interested in him but Liverpool are his ‘preferred option’.

It is said that ‘Aberdeen will only consider selling the player for well above their record fee’. This stands at £3m.

It is also noted that Liverpool are yet to make a ‘formal approach’ for the player.

Ramsay would likely come in as cover for Alexander-Arnold. Neco Williams is coming off a loan spell at Fulham. He admitted in January that he wanted to play more.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are reportedly “preparing” a £30m bid for Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, with the Reds “holding out for” over £40m.

Jurgen Klopp’s side ‘did not entertain’ an offer worth an initial £21m and an extra £4m in add-ons, but the Bundesliga champions are not giving up without a fight.

Mane is out of contract next season and Bayern are clearly looking to sign him on a cut-price deal.

Liverpool’s asking price is believed to be £42.5m, meaning the German’s first offer was less than half that amount if the rumoured Champions League-winning add-on was not fulfilled.

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern will come back with a £30m bid, which the Anfield club is expected to turn down.

Mane has scored 120 goals in 269 games for the Reds and has helped them reach three Champions League finals, winning one.

He is widely expected to leave this summer after six years in Merseyside. Speaking ahead of Senegal’s clash with Benin, Mane said: “60-70 per cent of Senegalese people want me to leave Liverpool? I will do what they want. We will soon see.”

However, the 30-year-old then claimed he was “joking” when pushed on his comments.
