Sevilla president Jose Castro has played down the prospect of the club re-signing Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno in the summer.

Moreno's future at Anfield looks bleak having started just two games in the Premier League this season. James Milner, having been converted from midfielder to left-back, has been preferred in his role.

The Spain international was once regarded as one of La Liga's brightest young talents before leaving Andalucia for Merseyside in 2014, but he has endured a dramatic fall from grace with the Reds now reportedly ready to listen to offers for the 24-year-old.

The left-back has been linked with moves to both Inter and AC Milan in recent days, with Onda Cero also claiming a return to his former club could be an option.

But club president Castro has denied such reports. "Alberto Moreno? I am not aware of anything with him," he was quoted as saying by AS.

While there are currently no plans to bring Moreno back to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Sevilla are considering bringing one of their favourite sons in Jesus Navas back home.

While Pep Guardiola has selected the Spaniard to play at right-back in Manchester City's last three games, he has not been a regular under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager. Navas' contract at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire this summer and could return to his boyhood club on a free transfer.

"The technical department is working on the squad for the new season. Jesús Navas? He could be one of the players they are thinking about," Castro added. "He could be an option for us, like many others. Right now we have to put confidence in the squad we have so that they can reach the objective of qualifying for the Champions League. Alberto Moreno? I'm not aware of anything with him."
