Liverpool will look to make some changes to its squad this summer. Already it has been announced that Thiago Alcântara and Joël Matip will leave the club while signings in the market can be expected. A new center-back should be a priority.

But what squad numbers are available to those who come in at Anfield? The following Liverpool numbers are currently vacant: Thiago's exit will mean someone else could wear the number six, while the numbers 14, 15, 16 are open at the moment. Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Marko Grujić were the last players to don each of them respectively.

The numbers 22 to 25 are also free, with no player currently wearing them. Matip, who is set to depart as a free agent, wore number 32 and therefore will leave that one free.

New roles within the existing squad could also lead to changes. Steven Gerrard, for instance, moved through numbers 28 and 17 before he settled on the iconic number eight.

Jarell Quansah, last season's breakout star, wore number 78 in his first campaign but he could opt to move lower down, while if Tyler Morton stays with the first team after a good loan with Hull City, he might want to switch away from the number 80. Conor Bradley is even higher at number 84 and could therefore change number to something more normal for a player who is a key part of the squad.

Stefan Bajčetić is number 43 which is a little lower, but he could move to something different too. But there is no guarantee that those players will want to swap. Trent Alexander-Arnold stayed with the number 66 even when he became one of the first names on Jürgen Klopp's teamsheet and that has become synonymous with him.

It would be a surprise if he ever decided to move numbers given the success Alexander-Arnold has had with it on his back. Across Merseyside, there is now a number 66 is almost every amateur children's soccer team because of the Scouser.
