Liverpool return to Premier League action this Sunday as they travel to face Southampton at St Mary's. The Reds take on the Saints in their first match after the November international break.

Arne Slot's side go into the game five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table and six ahead of Arsenal, who beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Liverpool were handed a boost in the Premier League title race when City were beaten 4-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Going into the game, Liverpool are top of the table and Southampton are bottom with just four points on the board and have lost nine of their 11 league fixtures this term. The Reds will take on the Saints twice in the space of a month when they meet in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup in December.

Ahead of the game, one Liverpool player has offered a team news hint hours before kick-off at St Mary's. Alexis Mac Allister has posted a pre-match graphic on his Instagram story which features himself in the club's away kit which is expected to be worn by the Reds on the south coast.

It has become a tradition that players will post a pre-match graphic on their social media channels ahead of their club's next fixture. It's also often the case then, if a player does that, it's an indication they could be starting in the fixture.

Mac Allister was dealing with fitness concerns after the October international break but still managed to feature in all seven of Liverpool's matches before the two-week hiatus earlier this month. The midfielder also travelled to South America, where he linked up with the Argentina squad.

The 25-year-old featured in both of Argentina's World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru over the last two weeks. It remains to be seen if Slot will give Mac Allister a start for Liverpool against Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
