When it comes to picking Liverpool's next standout star, there are plenty of candidates to choose from. A number of youngsters have broken through in recent times, including the likes of Harvey Elliott.

But if he had to pick someone to scale the heights, Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Northern Ireland defender Conor Bradley could be the one to watch at Anfield.

Bradley has ably acted as Alexander-Arnold's understudy at Liverpool. He deputised for the England international last season as Alexander-Arnold recovered from injury.

He has also enjoyed game time under new manager Arne Slot this term.

Bradley is viewed as a potential successor to Alexander-Arnold, whose own future appears up in the air as he stalls on a new contract at Liverpool. As it stands, he will come out of contract next summer, allowing him to talk to other clubs come January.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and any deal could see Bradley fill the void at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold was recently asked by Sky Sports which of Liverpool's youngsters from Bradley, Ben Doak, Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliot could be a future star for the club.

And for Alexander-Arnold one name stands out.

He said: "I have to go with Conor. I like to play 90 minutes, but I know how good he is and I have trust in him to get the job done and to help the team win the game."

The feeling is mutual as far as Bradley is concerned. He recently told the Liverpool Echo: "Everybody knows how good Trent is. He’s one of a kind as a footballer.

"But my aim is the same as last season – whenever I get a chance to be on the pitch I’m going to do my best to help the team. It’s about winning the games and giving my all. I know I’ve got some decent competition.

"If I’m training well, hopefully it can push Trent on and that can only be good for the team."
