Liverpool continued their impressive start to the season when they beat Real Madrid 2-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Second-half goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo secured Arne Slot’s side all three points at Anfield.

The victory means Liverpool remain top of the Champions League table heading into matchday six next month. A number of Reds stars impressed against the Spanish giants, but in the eyes of ECHO’s readers, two players stood out.

Sharing their views in the comments section of Ian Doyle’s post-match analysis, Reds supporters were quick to praise both Caoimhin Kelleher and Curtis Jones. Some fans are even keen to see the Republic of Ireland international keep his place over Alisson Becker.

Reacting to the victory, Cotacachi commented: "Some serious thought should be given to keeping Kelleher before swapping him for the unknown next year."

Budash0 said: "CuJ0 was great yesterday. He only need to work more on his reluctance to make those quick first-time releases instead of dwelling on the ball too much and his shooting techniques."

While Gibsonsg remarked: "At this moment that's our best MF trio. Jones has usurped Szobo."

Cflee9 said: "LFC needs all the young talents it has on board, no sale and no more loans until end of the season."

Georgeformby asked: "Maybe it's Allison who is going not Kelleher?"

While Thebailiffs opted to look at the bigger picture, saying: "Since FSG have owned Liverpool, they have: Turned Liverpool into the fourth most valuable club in the world. Completely modernised and rebuilt Anfield, expanding its capacity to 61,276. Built AXA Training Centre which is world class housing elite training, injury management, sports science and recreational facilities. Won: the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cups (3) and the Community Shield. Financed Liverpool 0.2 (as Klopp called them) and replaced one of the world’s top managers in Klopp with Slot who looks like he will be another winner. And you think they don’t know what they are doing?"
