Aston Villa supporters are furious with their club after they announced their Champions League ticket prices - which make Liverpool look surprisingly good.

On Wednesday, Villa unveiled their pricing for their Champions League fixtures. However, the prices of the tickets left some supporters seething. Ahead of their appearance in the Champions League, Villa are set to charge adult supporters between $127 (£97) and $89 (£68) for tickets to their European games.

Season ticket holders are given a small discount, with adult season ticket holders in Zones 1 and 2 at Villa Park having to pay $103 (£79). However, Villa fans on social media remain furious - which has somehow made Liverpool look good.

"£79 as a season ticket holder is absolutely ridiculous. This club needs to get in touch with the real world. This picture is always very fitting: sort it out," wrote one fan on social media.

Another added: "Those Champions League prices from #AVFC are tone deaf in the current climate and when coupled with the dramatic rises in season ticket and ticket prices over the last few years. Absolutely shameful. Villa fans in the main don’t live in London, they don’t get London salaries.

A third said: "Absolute disgrace. Different prices for non STH? What a kick in the bollocks for the unfortunate fans who can’t go as regularly. Same price to watch us play Bologna as Bayern Munich? Zone 1 a parent will pay nearly £200 for them and one child. You’re waging war on fans."

Astonishingly, Liverpool, whose ticket prices rose by two per cent in April, came out of the debacle looking surprisingly good, with plenty of Villa fans quick to point out that Liverpool's most expensive adult season ticket price was $78.75 (£60). "Come on @AVFCOfficial these prices are daft, especially when compared to others English clubs," wrote one fan, attaching a picture of Liverpool's ticket prices.

A second commented: "This is about a third more expensive than Liverpool's tickets btw." A third added: "These ticket prices are disgraceful. Liverpool’s most expensive CL tickets are £60. How not to reward season ticket holder’s loyalty over the years by fleecing them for all their worth for the one year we are in the Champions League."

Villa will face off against Bayern Munich, Juventus, Celtic and Bologna at Villa Park this season, and travel away to take on RB Leipzig, Monaco, Club Brugge and Young Boys on the road in the Champions League.

Liverpool.com says: "Aston Villa's ticket prices for their four Champions League home games this term are nothing short of scandalous. There's no other way to put it. That said, it should also be pointed out that just because their fans are pointing out Villa's ticket prices are too expensive, that doesn't mean Liverpool's aren't either. While it's nice to see Liverpool's prices are cheaper than Villa's when put side by side, they still remain expensive."
