Liverpool have been told how Arne Slot can be even more exciting than Jurgen Klopp if he is given time.

The Reds will have a new manager in the dugout next season as Klopp departs Anfield after almost a decade in charge. Liverpool's new head coach will arrive on Merseyside with big shoes to fill after the club's legendary German manager won eight major trophies including the Premier League and Champions League.

Slot arrives with an Eredvise title and Dutch Cup from his time in the Netherlands at Feyenoord. The 45-year-old led Feyenoord to second place in the league last term, seven points off champions PSV Eindhoven.

And former Ajax midfielder Marciano Vink has explained how Slot manages players. He revealed how the Dutchman isn't afraid to substitute underperforming stars.

“It’s going to be a lot similar to Klopp but this is going to be even more exciting if he gets the time because in the beginning, he’s going to substitute players if they don’t bring what he wants," Vink, who now commentates on the Dutch game, told ESPN.

"He's really hard on that. If you don’t bring what he wants and what he demands, he’s substituting, it doesn’t matter who you are or how big you’re name is.

"He wants to see that you’re really there to play, go for it. If you lose, you lose. But in the end, you will see he will make progress with the team.”

Liverpool's new manager will officially start on Saturday but he is already on Merseyside as he adjusts to his new surroundings. Talks on his first day are likely to take place with new sporting director Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards over transfers.

The summer window opens on June 14 and will close on August 30 at 11pm UK time.
