Liverpool's striker conundrum is a big talking point entering the summer transfer window. Darwin Núñez has done little to instill confidence he is definitely the right man to lead the line entering the Arne Slot era, and he's done equally little to stop transfer speculation after deleting Liverpool-related pictures from his Instagram account.

The market for strikers is therefore likely to generate plenty of interest when it comes to Liverpool's name being mentioned. But one of those linked with an Anfield switch, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, appears to have his heart set elsewhere.

According to the Mirror, Šeško favors a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal. The Gunners are his preferred choice after attracting a lot of interest, including claims from BILD in February naming Liverpool among them.

The 6ft 5in striker has been linked with clubs across Europe. If the £45m-rated forward does, indeed, move to Arsenal, then its impact could be felt elsewhere in a market where Núñez could be a player.

For one, it would take one potential Liverpool option to replace Núñez off the table. However, it could also bring other contenders into play.

For instance, one player touted as a potential replacement for Núñez is Newcastle United striker Aleksander Isak. While prying him away from St James' Park might be tough, the Mirror claims he is no longer a target for Arsenal. That could open the door for Liverpool to make a move, particularly if it decides to move on from Núñez.

Clubs in Europe on the lookout for a striker of Šeško's profile could also potentially be interested in Núñez. If the right offer comes along, then FSG may be tempted to cash-in.

It's been claimed that Slot sees Núñez as a player with a part to play. However, there's certainly been rumblings of discontent from the Uruguayan as he fell out of favor later in the season under Klopp.

Whether or not he could move on remains to be seen. However, a recent report from the CIES Football Observatory claimed Núñez is worth $116.66M (£91.77m/€107.9m) in the current transfer market.

The news that Šeško favors a move to Arsenal may well mean one of its contenders to join the club this summer is off the table. But it could also mean more movement and twists and turns in what promises to be a fascinating few months of business.
