Liverpool XI vs Chelsea: Confirmed team news, starting lineup and latest injuries today

James Milner is fit to take his place in the Liverpool squad to face Chelsea this evening.

The Yorkshireman has been restricted to a 10-minute outing as a substitute at Brighton since sustaining a hamstring injury against Everton during the Reds’ first game following lockdown.

However, speaking ahead of last week’s shock defeat to Arsenal, Jurgen Klopp revealed that his vice-captain was closing in a comeback.

He said: "Millie is in contention, or is pretty safe for the Chelsea game; nobody told me yet he will be available for tomorrow – and he didn't train yesterday, so that's not a good sign then.

"But it will be fine for Chelsea, I am pretty sure.”

True to his manager’s word, Milner has subsequently been spotted in training at Melwood, meaning he should be available to take on Frank Lampard’s men.

With Dejan Lovren and Xherdan Shaqiri having both overcome minor complaints, Klopp’s only other fitness concerns regard long-term absentees.

Joel Matip (foot) remains sidelined for the rest of the season, as does captain Jordan Henderson (knee).

However, both men are sure to be involved in the trophy presentation ceremony that will follow Liverpool’s clash with Chelsea.
