Liz Carmouche vs. Raquel Pennington Added to UFC 191

Raquel Pennington on UFC 205 Miesha Tate Fight: ‘I Have Everything to Gain’

A women's bantamweight bout between Liz Carmouche and Raquel Pennington has been added to the UFC 191 fight card, according to a Wednesday night report on UFC Tonight.

There had been talk of Pennington facing Leslie Smith at the Sept. 5 event in Las Vegas, but MMAJunkie.com reported that an injury to Smith kept the fight from materializing.

Carmouche (10-5) entered the UFC with a lot of thunder behind her 8-2 record. Her first fight in the Octagon was also the first-ever UFC women's bantamweight bout, as she challenged, but lost to champion Ronda Rousey in February of 2013.

She has walked a rocky road under the UFC banner, amassing a 2-3 record. Carmouche will step in the Octagon at UFC 191 coming off of a victory over Lauren Murphy that she hopes to build on.

Pennington's (5-5) path has been just as rough. She is 2-2 since emerging from The Ultimate Fighter. Pennington enters the fight with Carmouche coming off of a loss to Holly Holm at UFC 184 earlier this year.

A flyweight championship rematch between current titleholder Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson headlines the Sept. 5 fight card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
