The 19-year-old swimming sensation will represent Team GB in the capital in both the 200 metre freestyle individual event and the 4x200m relay.
Lloyd sealed his place in the relay all the way back in March, but last month in Sheffield he added an individual place by swimming a personal best time of 1:47.55 minutes to take gold at the ASA National Championships.
And while Lloyd is happy to admit that his individual spot is little more than an added bonus, the relay is where his medal hope truly lies.
He said: “It’s good to be relaxed going into the Games. I don’t seem to get too nervous and that’s definitely helped.
“The mental side is a part of swimming and you’ve got to be able to step up on the blocks and know that I can beat the big boys next to me is a big help towards my swimming.
“Individually, it’s going to be quite hard for me – I’m only going for a semi-final. But in the relays, we’ve got five top guys in really fast times.
“If we get to the final, then anything can happen on the day and hopefully we can sneak a medal in that. Here’s to hoping.
“We did really well four years ago, and looking up as a youngster, I thought next time in Britain, I hope I could get there and compete in that.
“But now to get in there among them, I can see our team is really strong and hopefully we can put in a better performance than last time.”
Lloyd will be part of the same British team as fellow Welshman David Davies, who will be competing in his third Games.
Teenager Lloyd admits he grew up idolising Davies, and as he prepares to make a splash in London, he hopes today’s young Welsh swimmers look up to him as he bids to inspire a nation.
He added: “It’s good to have the support of an entire nation. I’m one of five Welsh swimmers that have qualified and it’s good to show recognition.
“I’ve been swimming and looking up to David Davies and people like that, and I hope that young swimmers around Wales can look up to me and think that if he can do it, why can’t I?
“It would be great to up the number of swimmers in the country because we’ve got the talent to get there.”
