St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas will not appeal against Rowan Vine's red card in the clash with Ross County on Saturday but remains convinced referee Crawford Allan made a mistake.
The Saints striker was sent off following an incident involving Staggies skipper Richard Brittain during his side's 2-1 win. Television cameras failed to shed light on the altercation in Dingwall but Lomas gave his version of events to Press Association Sport before declaring that any possible appeal would be a "waste of time."
The Northern Irishman said: "That's him missing for three games. I said it was a very poor decision by the referee and I stand by that. But we won't be appealing. The appeals process makes appealing a waste of time, we have had experience of that before."
With it being his second dismissal of the season, the former QPR player will miss the visit of Queen's Park in the Scottish Communities League Cup third round on Tuesday night plus Clydesdale Bank Premier League games against Dundee and St Mirren.
"Rowan turned his back and was pushed and he turned and stuck his chest out and Richard Brittain went down like a sack of spuds. It was a very disappointing reaction."
St Johnstone's poor start to the season has been arrested with two wins and a draw in the last three matches.
Lomas looks forward to taking on the Irn-Bru Third Division leaders, who won 4-0 at Elgin City at the weekend.
"The onus is on us, we are at home," he said. "Queen's Park will get the respect they deserve, they are doing very well at the moment and their win against Elgin was emphatic, but it is about our mentality.
"We can take inspiration from Kilmarnock who won the cup last season. We have been to a few semi-finals in recent years so it would be good for the fans to get to the final and obviously from a financial point of view, it would be good.
"But we are not getting ahead of ourselves. We need luck and some luck in the draw also helps but you still have got to do the business. Wins breed confidence but we will have to put in a performance."
