‘Looked better’ - Overseas media make Arne Slot and Liverpool point after key Chelsea win
Liverpool’s return to Premier League action saw them pick up another crucial three points to reclaim their place at the top of the table. Arne Slot’s men hosted improving Chelsea at Anfield in a match that was seen as arguably their toughest so far.
The Reds stood up to the challenge. Mohamed Salah made no mistake from the penalty spot when Curtis Jones was fouled in the first half. Chelsea did equalise early in the first half, but they were only level for three minutes before the influential Jones got on the scoresheet again for what was ultimately the winning goal.
The three points took Slot’s men back to the top of the league. They had been overtaken by Man City just a couple of hours previously after their late, late win over Wolves at Molineux.

For Liverpool, eyes will be on the Champions League clash against Red Bull Leipzig on Wednesday night. However, there will be thoughts for what is a big game vs Arsenal on Sunday.
The game against Chelsea caused a lot of media interest, and not just from those in England. Overseas outlets also covered the match, with some focusing on the impact of players from their nation, here’s a preview of what three reports from three different countries had to say about the match.
Argentina - La Nacion
“In the match in which Alexis Mac Allister and Enzo Fernández, who started the match on the bench, faced each other, the locals were better and took a very important victory, which allows them to be the sole leaders of the competition…
“…The match ended 2-1 for Liverpool and Anfield exploded with the final whistle. They knew from the start that they had to win to climb to the top of the table and they achieved their goal.”
France - Ouest France
“The pedigree and the great dynamics of the guest, Sunday at Anfield, give even more credit to the successor of Jürgen Klopp, spoiled so far by the calendar. Chelsea was the first serious obstacle before a series of dizzying peaks, against Arsenal next Sunday in London, then Brighton and Aston Villa, all members of the current Top 5.”
Uruguay - El Observador
“Darwin Núñez entered at 30 minutes due to the injury of the Portuguese Diogo Jota and his performance was good, helping in offense, and also in defence against a tough rival. Halfway through the second half, he received a yellow card for a casual foul, but he continued to score (sic) as usual.
“As for goal opportunities, he had almost none, but he made things difficult for Frenchman Benoit Badiashile, who also came on as a substitute.”
