Lakers star LeBron James out vs. 76ers with knee soreness

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James didn't play in their 105-87 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night and is considered day-to-day with left knee soreness.

Though Lakers coach Frank Vogel didn’t sound too concerned before the game in Philadelphia, James appeared rather upset on social media.

“He’s out tonight,” Vogel said, via SBNation’s Harrison Faigen. “Just woke up with some soreness that was enough to hold him out.”

James dropped 33 points with seven rebounds and six assists in Tuesday’s 106-96 win over the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center, which marks the third game in a six-game road trip. Tuesday was the 18th straight game where James scored at least 25 points.

The 37-year-old has averaged 29.1 points — his highest output since the 2009-10 season in Cleveland — 7.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 36 games for the Lakers so far this season, and had appeared in 25 straight games before Thursday night.

Though the Lakers kept it close in the opening minutes, Philadelphia surged ahead and quickly took a double-digit lead to easily claim its 18-point win. The 76ers held the Lakers scoreless for the final 2:25 of the game, too.

Joel Embiid led Philadelphia with 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in the win, its third straight. Tobias Harris added 23 points while shooting 10-of-15 from the field, and Tyrese Maxey dropped 14 points with 10 rebounds.

Anthony Davis, though dealing with a new wrist injury, led the Lakers with 31 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Russell Westbrook added 20 points. As a team, they shot just 6-of-29 from behind the arc.
